Our client’s property
Our client’s house is a delightful 1930’s villa. Having lived in the property for a number of years, our clients wanted to extend the footprint of the house to accommodate the needs of the family.
The principal motivation for extending the property was to accommodate a large open-plan kitchen, living and entertaining space with a bar included.
Our client’s fell in love with the luxurious beauty of walnut timber and very early on decided that this was to form the focal point in the design theme throughout the kitchen.
The design theme centres on the combination of walnut and painted furniture with a beautiful t-shaped island with breakfasting area. Crafted in a traditional beaded inset frame shaker style, the cabinetry blends the benefits and design characteristics of a traditional hand-made kitchen with contemporary detailing.
The worktop on the island and kitchen was finished in stunning Cosmic Black granite. Ironmongery detailing included polished nickel cup handles and knobs.
The room was made complete with a bespoke bar area – again combining solid walnut work tops with painted drinks cabinetry.
Mrs Thomson commented: “The experience, working with David L Douglas has been great. From the design process at the start through to the hand-over at the end of the project has been first-class. The four key stand-out things for me were: the team came back to do a post fitting clean of the room, the painters came back to do final post-project finishing touches, the care kit supplied was fantastic and finally a bouquet of flowers at the end – really says it all! I would have no hesitation in recommending David L Douglas.”
