Our client’s property
Our client’s house is a traditional Victorian farmhouse, nestled in the beautiful countryside of North East Fife.
As tradition has it within the farming community, the next generation moves into the larger farmhouse on the farm. Having moved in, our clients were looking to create a large open plan kitchen, dining and living space to accommodate the needs of a growing family.
Our clients had a good idea of what they were looking for; something spacious, not too modern so as to remain in-keeping with the age of the house and with a painted finish.
The design theme focuses on contrasting painted furniture with an expansive centre island with raised breakfasting area. Crafted in a traditional Georgian moulding with flat centre panel, the cabinetry is painted in Farrow & Ball Strong White and Stiffkey Blue.
The worktop on the island and kitchen was finished in stunning Cosmic Black Leather granite. The raised breakfasting worktop was hand-made from rustic oak in a distressed finish to complement the ceiling beams in the room.
Ironmongery detailing included Pewter Amerock cup handles and knobs, with oak knobs on the island.
Sanitary ware consisted of double bowl Shaws Edgeworth sink together with Perrin & Rowe Ionian chrome taps.
The room was made complete with a beautiful 5 oven AGA Cooker finished in Dartmouth Blue.
Mrs Forster said: “We met David L Douglas at The Royal Highland Show and were very impressed with their beautiful display, we liked everyone we met and were convinced this was the firm for us. As a family firm ourselves, working with another family firm was important to us and we are absolutely delighted with the end result – a forever kitchen!”
